          A. Background

Cleany Rooms was created with the primary purpose to educate children aged 6 – 10. It also serves as a requirement (final project) in the subject “Multimedia and Human Computer Interaction”.

          B. Project Scope

As stated before, Cleany Rooms was created with a primary purpose to educate children aged 6 – 10 about house hygiene and appropriate trash disposal. Through this game, we are hoping to educate children on what different types of tools for cleaning are used for as well as the different types of trash they can use said tool to clean for. The target demographic for this game is children aged 6 – 10 as this game requires users to use the computer keyboard.

          C. Project Description

Cleany rooms consists of primarily 3 different types of gameplay or stages, all relating to organizing trash and its disposal.

The first stage of the game is called “Clean Your Room”. In this stage, players are asked to clean the 4 different rooms using the appropriate tools provided in each room. The objective of this stage is to teach children the different uses of different cleaning tools. This part of the game is also supported by a narrative to keep it interesting. Furthermore, each room consists of 2 NPCs or Non – Playable Characters which roams around the room, throwing trash.

The second stage, dubbed “Collecting Trash” comes right after the player has cleaned all 4 rooms of the first stage. In this stage, players are asked to collect all the remaining trash which are falling randomly. There is no real educational purpose of this game other than to show children that collecting trash can be fun. This stage will only run for 30 seconds in which players must collect all the falling trash without depleting their live points.

The third stage of the game is called “Organizing Trash” in which players are asked to sort the trash into either the recycling bin or the organic bin. Each bin will have 3 items that are appropriate to it. For the organic bin, the players must drag all of these three items (“Banana peel”, “Bitten apple”, and “Watermelon Skin”) into the bin. On the other hand, the players are also required to drag the “Crumpled paper”, “Soda can” and “Waste bottle” to the recycling bin.

After all three stages are complete, the player would have completed the game. As you can see, the primary objective of all three stages is to encourage and educate children to dispose trash appropriately.
          D. Environment

The game was primarily developed using the game development software, Construct 2, by scirra. For the creation of most of the assets, we used primarily 2 tools, which are  the eLoui online room maker as well as Adobe Illustrator CC 2017. Lastly, to share assets between computers, we used Google Drive as well as File Drop, both freewares.
